8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
Don't get us wrong, we as Latter-Day Saints do believe in the bible, we read, study, and teach from the bible. We love the teachings of the prophets and also of the Savior that are found throughout the bible and as we follow their teachings, they truly bless our lives. However, the bible has undergone a lot of translations since the time it was written and some precious, pure truths and doctrines originally found in the bible have been either changed or lost.
This is why we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, are very appreciative for the additional scripture and doctrines found in more and modern day scripture. These more modern and additional scripture include, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. These scripture do not take away from any doctrines found in the bible, rather they give an additional witness of the truthfullness of the Savior Jesus Christ, His life and ministry. These additional scripture go with the bible and solidify to the world that God and Jesus Christ live and They love each and every one us and that They have a plan for all of to follow in order to return back to live with Them forever in eternal happiness.
I have a firm testimony that the Bible, along with the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants and Pearl of Great Price are the words of God and are special witnesses that Jesus is the Christ and we can get closer to God by following the counsel found in these wonderful books of scripture.
