We Believe.... The Gathering of Israel

10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisaical glory.

Since I'm not as familiar as I should be with this topic and because it may be a little deep, I will again use the words of Elder Ballard in Our Search for Happiness.

"The tenth article of faith has to do with the prophetic destiny of the American continent and Christ's foretold millennial reign upon the earth. It affirms every scriptural prophecy regarding the Second Coming of Christ, including biblical prophecies relative to the gathering of Israel and the return of the Ten Tribes of Israel that became "lost" when the invading Assyrians deported them around 722 B.C. It is not my purpose here to explain such detailed doctrine. It suffices to say we believe that all that has been prophesied by God's prophets will eventually come to pass, and that Jesus Christ will return to earth in power and majesty to rule as King of Kings in reclaiming His people and ushering in a millennial era of peace.

"Of course, some find that prospect rather frightening. After all, those prophecies include promises of trouble, trauma, and tragedy all around the world. And while I freely acknowledge the difficulties that surely will come, there is peace in knowing that the Lord is in control. He knows the end from the beginning. He has given us adequate instruction that, if followed, will see us safely through any crisis. His purposes will be fulfilled, and someday we will understand. For now, however, we must be careful not to overreact to our concerns, nor should we be caught up in extreme preparations. What we must do is keep the commandments of God and never lose hope."

I would just like to add that although I don't know everything about this topic, (which is okay because I don't need to know everything about it) I do know that what it says is true. That the Ten Tribes of Israel that have been lost, will indeed be found once again, that Christ will come back to the earth and reign personally among His righteous people and that the earth will be cleansed of all wickedness and receive its glory. I know these to be true because I know that the prophets who have testified of these things are true prophets of God. I know that so long as we do what's right and follow God's commandments, then we will have no need to fear the harsh times that lie ahead of this world.
